What Time Is It?

Game Time.

It’s that time of year again.  The leaves are changing.  The wind has that crisp, cool feel in the morning. ???? ??? ?????   Football is reestablishing itself as the premiere American sport.  And baseball playoffs have begun.  Per the usual, there are grumblings about the scheduling of the opening round of the Major League Baseball playoffs.

Imagine that you are baseball.  Not the commissioner, just a human embodiment of the sport itself.  You dominate the airwaves and sports talk shows with non-stop games since the Warriors upset the Mavs in Round 1 of the NBA Playoffs.  There are games every single day and five out of seven days a week, every single team is playing.  Regular season scheduling can take place whenver you want. ????? ??? ????   Day Game? Sure.  Night Game? Sure.  Doubleheader? Sure.  Games in April with the potential for snow in Boston, New York, and Cleveland? Sure.  West Coast game the day after playing on the East Coast in Sunday Night Baseball against your biggest rival? Sure.  You have no limits, no rules, no regulations when it comes to scheduling.

That’s why it is no surprise that when baseball sells its opening round of the playoffs, it gives the broadcaster full reign to schedule the games whenever they want.  Well, the broadcaster has very different goals than baseball or its fans.  Thus, conflict.  The broadcaster (this year it is TBS, but ESPN has been just as guilty if not more so of this kind of chicanery) wants to maximize revenue, particularly catering its big games to the big markets.  But beyond that, it wants to make sure that televisions are turned to TBS for the maximum amount of time.  The result is our incredibly stretched schedule, where everyone is scrambling home for the early games, while no one is watching the prime-time games. Halo and the Listy Blogosahedron

John “Master Chief” HarvardI don’t have all the time in the world for my post because Halo 3 is here, and I have to get back to helping Cortana and killing aliens. So I’ll just send you to a few lists I’ve recently read in the Blogo-Icosahedron (or Blogosahedron for short).

The first is a list of sports blogger types from Epic Carnival. Where do you think the NoS writers fit in to that? What are we missing? I know we need another writer, so perhaps I should find someone that helps us round out this list. ?????? ??? ?????

The second is a baseball is better than men list from Babes Love Baseball. So I figured I could extend the ‘Women > Baseball > Men’ list thing and say Why Women are Better Than Baseball:

  1. Women don’t disappear and exist on rumors for 6 months of the year.
  2. Women are much better at fitting dates into your schedule. When was the last time a baseball game was delayed because you had to work late or go on a business trip? ????? ????? ?? ???? ???????
  3. Women try to look good for you, Baseball teams keep JD Drew on the roster.
  4. Women are sensitive. There’s no crying in baseball. (I don’t know if this is a good or bad thing.)
  5. Women listen to you when you’re upset or angry (then they twist those words at a later time).
  6. Most women are hotter than most baseball players. (to me anyways)
  7. You have a much wider choice when it comes to women. With baseball, you have about 30 choices, with most of those being long distance relationships.
  8. Women are unpredictable. Add some excitement to your life. ????? ??? ??????
  9. A good women will enjoy baseball with you.
  10. Most women don’t give you an 86 year drought without going all the way.

Ok, go enjoy Halo 3, or make me a list that says men are better than baseball (if that is even possible).
