I was thinking of an Alex English or Bernard King jersey even though I don't have any real tie to either of them

Serpico, for you there are two options:

1. Change your shirt choice as often as you change your team loyalties -weekly.
2. Pick whichever shirt gives you the best change of scoring with Queen Latifah

I would imagine that if you were getting a jersey for the love of the game (a love I admit that I do not share), you'd have to go old-school. Anything too recent is tainted with the living, breathing personality on SportsCenter every night.

That still leaves two options:

1) Old-school NBA: When I think "love of the game," I think Larry Bird.

2) Old-school NCAA: As much as it pains me to say, the first two I thought of were a #32 Laettner Duke "away" jersey or a #23 in (ecch!!!) Carolina Blue.
