I've been looking for a forum to share this story for 2 days now - i just need to get it out of my system.

I am 1-3 in my league, due to a number of factors- several being in my control (why did a draft alexander and hasselbeck?) and others beyond my control (Steve Smith bunching his points into one game, resulting in a 50-point win and two 10 point losses)

So i go into this week knowing i am not a good team, plus i've got a few byes, and pretty much everybody on my bench is injured. My opponent is not undefeated, but a solid team that has put up numbers consistently. By some act of god, i go into the monday night game LEADING him by a few points. I've got the cowboys D going (picked up off the waiver - Vikings are my normal D), and he has Romo, Crayton, and Lynch (Bills RB) going. I figure i'm toast - romo is going to have a monster game against the bills, and lynch is usually good for some decent yardage.

But as i watch Romo throw pick after pick after pick, i start to see a glimmer of hope. My lead is actually getting extended. I've absorbed Lynch's production, and if things stay as they are, i might actually pull this out.

I need to pause here and gripe about ESPN's scoring system. If you watched the game, you will know that the Bills scored 24 points - that's 3 TDs and 1 FG. 2 of those TDs were scored by the Buffalo Defense, off Romo INTs. If i understand the game of football, that means the cowboys D was not on the field when these TDs were scored. By my calculations, the cowboys defense should not be penalized for having a QB that forgot which players he was throwing to. But ESPN sees it differently, and the points against stat for the cowboys DEFENSE reflected all points scored against the cowboys TEAM - 24.

But that's not what lost me the game. No, what lost me the game was Tony Romo finally doing (just barely) enough to get his team back into the game (to patrick crayton none-the-less!!). It would have been so much easier had i turned on the game and romo had already racked up 3 TDs - i would have never gotten it into my brain that i even had a shot (which i didn't). So because of that - because of Romo's drama-queen, ratings-grabbing actions on Monday night, i now have an utter and complete hatred for the cowboys QB. He could have made it painless, and instead he did the exact opposite.

I feel a lot better now. Does this make me an 'Excuse Factory'?
